Hunky Dory

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I thought Zaini was rocking a cool 80’s vibe, with her leather skirt from H&M, and freebie hat from a nightclub party. Zaini’s bag is by Fiorelli, boots, tee and scarf from Primark. The tights are from a 99p store, gloves River Island and gloves from a random store in Camden. The cardigan came from a boyfriend.

Zaini loves edgy designers like Vivienne Westwood. Her least favourite look is the current trend for floral patterns. Zaini says “you will never catch me wearing flowery clothes, or leggins - cuz they can look a bit cheap and sluttish”.

The Stylist

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I loved stylist Mary-Anna’s look. I particularly liked the structure of Mary’s vintage jacket, it works so well with her Donna Karan skirt and her cool-cat hat.

The Make-Up Artist

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Make-up Artist Julia was with friends when I stopped her. I couldn’t help thinking that Julia was channelling the spirit of Amelia Earhart. Julia was wearing Armani shoes, a Topshop fur trim Aviator jacket, vintage glasses and fierce-looking Alexander McQueen bag.

Neo Noir

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I loved the noirish appeal of Maya’s face in the low, raking, autumnal light. Maya is wearing a vintage blazer which she bought for £4:50 in a charity shop.

Natural Elements

Akimi and Neil are partners in every sense of the word, they are both designers and run ARN Mercantile men’s and women’s clothing. When I saw Akimi and Neil I instantly knew they were a couple. I love the intimacy of this shot and the closeness it reflects. Neil looks like he is channelling the Alan Ginsberg beat look and he could have almost of stepped off the streets of San Francisco or New York circa 1959 - rather than London 2009. While Akimi’s look has more of a rustic country appeal. Both seemed very happy.

Patrick Grant - Socks Appeal

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Patricks name can often found on ‘best dressed’ lists, and as a Savile Row tailor Patrick has revived the historic E Tautz label and is wearing a jacket from the new range. They dressed the likes of Edward VII, Winston Churchill and even Cary Grant. I sense the dry humour of Cary Grant in this photo, as Patrick gives me a cheeky peek of his stripy socks.
