skulls + beads

I WON I WON!

I feel like I don't really have that natural 'lucky gene' like some people do (although I did win $100 off a LIFE cereal box when I was 8 :) ), but a few weeks ago I won a blog giveaway that I wanted to share with you.

The CLEEO Collection is a great jewelry company out of California, who make "modern jewelry with a twist".

The lovely girls at the blog Bikini Bird hosted a giveaway last month, and let me know I was picked to receive the "BLACK ROSE" Bracelet by CLEEO. It was perfect timing, as the postman delivered my package just in time for halloween...and what does the bracelet have on it, other than a cute gold skull.

Not sure if I mentioned how into skulls I am these days. I think it has stemmed from a growing fascination with Mexican culture and design, and thus, the day-of-the-dead FUN masks and skulls. (Notice the skull tank in the background of my pic which I wore with my bracelet).

...oh, and I was one for halloween too. :)

So thanks to the CLEEO Collection and Bikini Bird! I just ♥ the bracelet and wear it all the time now!

Life of a Shopaholic blog is also offering a chance to win. She's giving away the adorable Brown Bear Full Hood! It's one of my new favorites!

Another recent collaboration with SpiritHoods and a contest is with blogger, Ayetah "A Collection of Vintage and One Off Pieces". Check out this post on Facebook to find out how to be entered to win HERE.

So now, what are you waiting for? Go and enter! Even if you don't win though, I recommend you getting one of these before the temps drop. I'm patiently awaiting the fall/winter degrees here in Florida myself.

Fabulous Italian Fashion Bloggers

This past Saturday evening I was so happy to be in town to attend the Florence Fashion Bloggers Meet-up. Such a lovely coinsidence that its was happening just days after I arrived back in Italy...and that it was only a few blocks away from where I am staying.

It took place in a zone in the Oltrarno area of Florence, down a small alley way where the vintage shops of Ceri Vintage e Jules e Jim are located. They hosted the event in the shops and open-air courtyard which screams vintage like none others in the States...I mean we're in the city of the Renaissance and in a building that's older than any building in the entire US.

Thanks to the lovely Isa from 7 Heures du Mat who arranged the meet-up and to the host shops as well. There were plenty of fun pieces of clothing, shoes, and accessories for us to try on. Several bloggers gave us a fashion show of poses to shoot. Plus, a dj playing tunes the entire night from a crazy old jukebox booth, and lots of cupcakes from Mama's Bakery.

Some of the wonderful bloggers I met were the lovely Giorgia from Student Flair, very nice Irene from Irene's Closet, beautiful Nathalie from My Floor is Red, Chiara and Letizia from the hilarious We Eat the Blonde Salad, playful Roberta (aka BaiLing) from In the Mood for Love, fun Irene of Mix and Match, pretty Irene from Fashion is a Way of Life, and the handsomely dressed Francesco from The Man Inside of Me. **Check out their links for more posts and photos of the events!

the party drew a crowd from inside the neighboring shop too!

I've been following many of these Italian bloggers for a bit now, and so it was great to finally meet them face to face - as well as some new ones that I didn't know, but who's blogs I'll be following from now on!

Everyone was so nice and gracious with my yet-perfected Italian. Thanks to everyone who hosted, helped, and participated - it was a great time and I hope to see many of you again!

Florence Fashion Bloggers Meet-Up

So I made it to Italy. Florence to be exact. And it's as beautiful as when I left it last.

Besides still trying to find a place to stay :/ I'm really looking forward to an event that's happening tomorrow. Perfect coincidence that I'm here for the day it's happening. Last month I read on the Italian fashion blog 7 heures du mat (yes, I'm sure it's an Italian blog), that there's a Italian fashion bloggers meet-up here in Florence....and not far from where I'm temporarily bunking.

via 7 heures du mat

This meet-up is part workshop, part shopping, part conversing...and of course, part wine. Held in the courtyard of Ceri Vintage, lots of bloggers will gather to talk fashion, new collections, take photos, listen to a live dj, and meet new people. I'm really excited to meet some other bloggers I've been following.

...plus, I think we'll be (trying at least) to do some live blogging. So if you're in the area, come join us! ...a presto!

Read more info HERE & HERE...plus Vogue Italia just posted about it HEREas well!

where to wear wednesday :: Milano

Since this week is Fashion's Night Out 2010, I thought the best place to highlight for "Where to Wear Wednesday" would be Milano who is hosting the event tomorrow, September 9. Although many cities around the world are participating in this annual event put on by Vogue, you know that I love to talk about Italy ... so Milan it is!

FNO is one of the globe's biggest international fashion parties. Each city hosts various events at hundreds of shops and boutiques which stay open late. Plus, there are special promotional products sold to benefit a "do-good" cause. This year, Milano is focusing on eco-friendly organizations. Last year they raised money to plant over 5500 trees and plants in the center for a "public green" initiative. New York, the headlining city, will donate proceeds from the sales of the night's events will go to the New York City AIDS Fund.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan

In Milano, over 500 shops in the city center will remain open until 11:30 complete with food, music, DJ sets, plenty of Campari cocktails (the main sponsor this year), and lots of fashionable people to mingle with in the shops and streets. Check out the FNO Milano website for more details including maps, lists of shops participating, special event schedule, and many of the exclusive products being sold that night...including this Escada vintage ad t-shirt that will be for sale on Corso Matteotti. Um, can someone please save one for me?

Unfortunately, I won't arrive in Italy until after the event is over, so I'll be following vicariously through plenty of the online chatter.

..but if I was going, I think this is what I'd like to wear:
Ultimate Military Cape :: TOPSHOP.COM
Gucci Black Wool 1000 Pants :: FARFETCH.COM
Jeffrey Campbell 99 Fur Booties :: SOLESTRUCK.COM
Fendi "Peek-a-Boo" Bicolor Bag :: LUISAVIAROMA.COM
Brita's Celebrity Style Black Earrings :: FANTASYJEWELRYBOX.COM
Chanel Three Khakis Nail Polishes :: Debuting at FNO 2010

be an animal :: SPIRIT HOODS

Like I've mentioned before, the seasonal change between summer and fall is my favorite of the year...and now I have an even bigger reason to look forward to the chillier weather...

...so that I can wear my new, and incredibly awesome Spirit Hood! I know, I know...you're thinking, "um, it's an animal on your head".. And, yes, you'd pretty much be correct. (Albeit a faux fur animal-friendly animal! :) ) But it's an amazing animal. An awesome hood. And something that once you put it on, you don't want to take off.

I met the "Tribe" of Spirit Hoods at the POOL Tradeshow last month in Vegas. A few of them were walking around with various wildlife on their heads and it definitely made me look twice. When I finally stopped by their booth, I smiled, said something like "those are so cute!". And they told me I should put one on. I politely declined, but after some convincing they stuck one on my head and it seriously was like something magical happened. I loved it, and definitely wanted to get one before leaving the show.

The company and the group who started it are pretty awesome. Not only do they proudly wear these things everywhere, but they seem like really fun people. And the company gives back a portion of sales to non-profit organizations dedicated to wildlife conservation. They call this giving back program "Product Blue", and so when you purchase a hood with the Product Blue logo, a portion of the sale goes to an organization corresponding to the animal type of hood you bought.

It's pretty versitile as well (as much as an animal hood can be)...I've worn mine as a scarf with the "arms" around my neck and the hood part hanging in the back. There are little paw pouches for your hands, and even a hidden zip pocket on one of the inside "arms". I definitely think I'll get some funny looks wearing this around town, but I think it will make people smile. How can it not? I'm wearing a leopard on my head.

So go ahead. Be a panda, wolf, or bear this season...and JOIN THE TRIBE!

fall favorites (part 1) :: AW10 All Saints UK

Not sure about you, but the season change I most look forward to each year is that one from summer to fall. Here in Florida it seems to take a bit longer to get here, but no matter...as soon as that first morning arrives when at least the humidity is lower, then soon the morning follows when you wake up and it's a slight chill to the air. It immediately makes me want to layer layer layer, pull on my boots, and grab a scarf. Plus, this fall I'll be in Italy which should bring on the seasonal change a bit sooner!

I'll be featuring some of my favorite Fall/Winter 2010 lines on here as the autumn approaches. Today it's one of my all time favorite brands, AllSaints Spitalfields. They just released their AW10 lookbook photos on the UK site and you can also see the shoot on their Facebook Page as well.

Here are some of the amazing shots. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I've been seeing so many great looks coming up for FW10 that I'm really excited to talk about them. What's your favorite trend and/or collection?
